Planes Ready for Flight
Waiting for Ice to clear in Angmagssalik

Daily Report

by Lt. L. P. Arnold, "Chicago", Mechanic

Today was a fairly busy day, all of it being spent aboard the plane ["Chicago"] checking things over & now everything is O.K. to start out when the fuel reaches Greenland. Message from Schulze [Lt., 6th Division Advance Officer aboard the Danish supply ship Gertrud Rask] today saying that the Rask had broken free of ice and succeeded in getting to Angmasalik greatly cheered the Navy & press men who were certainly getting pessimistic.

The town & its people differ little than any others -- the sudden rush of money from the sailors, who had just been paid, has sent prices upward & the exchange rate down.
