Today it was too windy to risk taking the planes up on the runway for the space is limited & the planes are unwieldy in the wind.
The day was spent roaming around the stores, buying souvenirs, etc. In the evening there was an "open house" on the Richmond with a buffet supper & dance -- a lot of townspeople attending.
The sailors were all ashore & as usual owned the town, and these being the first American warships ever here both the ships & the men attracted much attention.
