Howdy! (2023)

Welcome to the official site of the Seattle World Cruiser Project. Celebrating the first circumnavigation of the globe by air.

HOWDY & HAPPY HOLIDAYS! One Year To Go for the 100th Anniversary of the First World Flight!

As this year comes to a close, we look to 2023 with renewed excitement as we continue to fine-tune the Cruiser and our logistics for the 2024 Celebration Flight that will honor the Centennial of the original World Flight in 1924.

That First World Flight was a momentous stepping-stone towards exploring our world and the discoveries that we are realizing today with the James Webb Telescope. We are looking into the future and the past—to the very beginnings of the universe.

We Celebrate this most important event, as we recognize all of Humankind’s History: Our Journeys as Explorers of Ourselves, Our World, and The Universe. It Is Who We Are: Explorers.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to send our warm wishes to all of you for a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year.

KIRO NEWSRADIO INTERVIEW WITH BOB & DIANE

April 6th of this year marks the 98th anniversary of the official start of the Douglas World Cruiser’s historic flight around the world. To help mark the occasion Feliks Banel from KIRO NewsRadio came down to the hangar to interview us about the past, present, as well as our plans for April 6th of 2023! HOLIDAY REVIEW

Like many of you, 2021 was another year of delayed travel plans. However, Hope Springs Eternal and yes, we are still planning on making the World Flight once we feel it will be safe for all involved. We hope the New Year brings tailwinds and clear skies for us all. Cheers, Bob & Diane.

Also, with the holiday season upon us we thought it might be fun to recap our “Renton Story” with a look back at all the Holiday Cards we’ve created since the first year of the project. Click on each card below to enlarge and read more.

LAST CALL

As many of you may know, our favorite restaurant and center of the Boeing Field Community, the historic Randy's, closed after nearly 40 years.

We visited to have one last cup of coffee and say goodbye to our dear friends Richard, Lucia and the entire Randy's staff that always made us feel at home there.

We're thankful for all the wonderful memories we've had at Randy’s over the years. We are going to miss you and our corner World Cruiser booth! For those of you that never had a chance to visit, you can visit virtually by clicking here: https://bit.ly/36Qhybm
